As part of efforts to prevent the expired foods, beverages and drugs from being sold, officials from Consumer Affairs Department inspected food shops in Myoma market in the town of Khin-U, Shwebo district, Sagaing region this morning.

The inspection team led by U Kyaw Ngwe, secretary of the District Consumer Affairs Arbitration body, conducted a surprise check on 13 food shops whether expired foods, drugs and beverages, foods included in the ban lists of FDA, foods unsuitable for consumption are sold.

The team burnt the seized foods which are unsuitable for consumption under consumer protection law.—Soe Wai Aung ( Khin-U)
