The media quoted the suspect as telling police that he visited Cambodia on a smuggling mission. He reportedly said he was hired by a resident of Japan, who appears to be a Ghanaian national. He was reportedly instructed to receive the drug from a man living in Phnom Penh, who is likely to be a Nigerian.

The police are investigating whether a criminal organization is involved in the smuggling.
