No casualties were reported in a cargo boat fire in Homa;in Township, Sagaing Region.

A cargo boat operated by a man identified as U Kyaw Myo Win caught fire at about 6:30 p.m. on 13 May while docking at a jetty in Homalin. The fire is attributed to have started from an oil spark while an employee from the ferry boat was filling diesel. 12 local firefighters brought the fire under control 20 minutes later with the use one fire engine.

The fire also consumed 13 barrels of diesel, one generator, and packs of egg worth Ks. 4.3 million. The boat operator has been charged with fire negligence by the local police.—Lin Lin (IPRD)
