TO quickly meet domestic cement demand for construction projects nationwide during the earthquake rehabilitation process in this dry season, and to bolster local production, cement imports are being permitted.

Continuously arriving via the Kawthoung border trade station, a cement vessel carrying 3,010 tonnes reached Shweme Port in Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region, on the evening of 18 April and is now being distributed in the market.

The import of cement required for domestic construction work has been allowed during this period, and in addition to this vessel, other vessels carrying cement will continue to arrive weekly. — MNA/MKKS
