THE Air China’s flight from Beijing carrying disaster-relief supplies offered by the Chi­nese government arrived in Myanmar yesterday to aid the earthquake victims in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Mag­way Region, northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and Bago Region.

 

The supplies included tents, medicines, blankets, bedsheets, mosquito nets and commodities weighing 87,075 kilogrammes.

 

On arrival at the Yangon International Airport, Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, senior Tat­madaw officers, Chinese Am­bassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia and other relevant officials observed the processes.

 

The Chinese ambassador gave an explanation about the donation, and the regional chief minister expressed gratitude. Efforts are underway to arrange the supplies, which will be sent to disaster-stricken areas short­ly. — Zwe Htet Ko (IPRD)/KTZH
