MANDALAY Yunnan Buddhist Temple, together with the Myanmar-born Chinese community and generous donors, has donated essential supplies worth over K600 million, including rice, cooking oil, and chickpeas, to support 11,100 monks and nuns affected by the recent earthquake across seven townships in Mandalay Region.
The donation ceremony took place yesterday morning at the Manaung Yadana Pagoda in Chanayethazan Township. The event was graced by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, regional ministers, senior officials, Ms Gao Ping, the Chinese Consul-General in Mandalay, as well as the temple’s chairman, members, donors, and invited guests.
At the ceremony, 55 monks and 10 nuns received offerings and officials listened to sermons delivered by Mogaung Monastery Sayadaw. Contributions were also made to aid the maintenance and renovation of the Manaung Yadana Pagoda, ensuring continued spiritual support for the community. — MNA/KZL
