The opening of a shoe factory took place in an industrial zone in Ottha satellite town, Bago City this morning.
Firstly, Regional Chief Minister U Win Thein extended greetings, expressing thanks to foreign businesses for investing in Myanmar. Next, officials from Nippon Steel and Myanmar New Mengsheng Shoes’ Managing Director Mr. Boping Zhou elaborated on the operation of the factory. Afterwards, the regional chief minister and the managing director of the factory inaugurated the factory by cutting a ceremonial ribbon and viewed round inside the factory.
The China-based company set up shoe factories in Hlaingthayar and Bago Industrial Zones, opening up to 1,000 job opportunities for local people. Raw materials are imported from China to produce different kinds of shoes at the factories. Various shoes are exported to the markets in Japan and China.—Tin Soe (Bago)
