A collective garbage clearance campaign was carried out on Chaungtha Beach, a popular tourist attraction site in Pathein, Ayeyawady Region this morning.

The activity started on Chaungtha Beach with the participation of a group of about 150 people comprising of the township-level authorities, medical staff, policemen, firefighters and members of a local social organization. 

 

Garbage, which is tossed over the sides of boats by careless people, ends up washed on beaches during high tide. As the water recedes, the refuse remains on the shore. The volunteers were actively involved in the disposal of trash for beautifying the beach.—Ko Ko Maung (IPRD)
