A collective tree-growing ceremony to mark National Tree Planting Day was held at the town of Chiphwe, Myitkyina District, Kachin State yesterday.

The event was jointly organized by the township General Administration Department, Development Affairs Committee and Forest Department.

With the aim of keeping the environment green, maintaining soil and temperature, staff from the township GAD, Development Affairs Committee and Forest Department planted 100 saplings including teak, Pingadone and Seinpanpu trees along Wamhte Htaw Raod and Zokshaungjone Road in Baletdam Ward in the town of Chiphwe, Kachin State.
