A coordination meeting on the surveys conducted by the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Aung said relevant ministries were working together with the Rakhine State government for implementing stability, peace and development in the state.
The Committee conducted a field survey in Rakhine State from 29 September to 4 October 2019. The field survey and the findings and reports of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy will be discussed, the deputy minister said.
The deputy minister then said the finding and reports are to be explained and discussed by relevant ministries, and the meeting was to coordinate the surveys over the relevant ministries.
Dr Aung Thurein, the Director-General of the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State, then explained the matters related to fulfilment in basic needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education and security, of the displaced people after meeting with them, construction of shelters for them, repatriation and resettlement under the UEHRD programme, and the condition of IDP camps.
Afterwards, representatives from related ministries explained their ministry’s performances which were then coordinated by the deputy minster.
