A meeting between concerned officials and local people for construction of the Muse-Mandalay railway project was held at the Pyidaungsu Hall in Kutkai Township, Shan State (North) yesterday.

The railroad that connects Muse with Mandalay will pass Kutkai Township. At the meeting, local residents requested responsible officials to reduce negative impacts concerning the project.
Upon completion, transportation and commodity flow will be smooth and swift as well many job opportunities will materialize. U Tun Aung, member of Ta’ang (Palaung) Literature and Cultural Committee in Kutkai underscored that the project needs to be implemented without harming farmlands, forest areas, water resource and houses.
Electric trains will operate on the Muse-Mandalay Railway and the trip from Muse to Mandalay is expected to take three hours.
