Construction of rural road in Katha Township 70 % completed

Officials from the Department of Rural Development led by Assistant Director U Soe Than looked into progress for construction of a rural road in Metlinchaung Village, Katha Township in Sagaing Region on 18 March.

An earthen road measuring two mile long plus one box culvert are being built by a private tender winning company with Ks. 90 million of DRD’s allotted funds in the fiscal year 2019-2020. Construction of the rural road began on 15 January this year and has been about 70 percent finished so far.

Once completed, it will benefit 1000 rural people from nearby villages, helping them transport rural products to the markets in a timely manner.—Ye Aung (Katha)
