Coronavirus cases fall in Magway Region

39 news covid-19 cases were detected in Magway Region on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the region to 2,450, according to data released by the Department of Public Health.


There are still people in the region who are free of the virus and are in good health and have been discharged from the hospital. The confirmed covid-19 patients on December 27 were from Chauk, Aunglan, Yenangyoung, Taungdwingyi and Yesagyo Townships.


A contact tracing process is being conducted to expose people who had close contact with the coronavirus patients. Most of the virus patients are returnees, the truck drivers and their assistants, said Dr Khin Maung Than, assistant director of the region's Department of Public Health.


Magway Region reported 2,450 confirmed covid-19 cases in total, with 2,085 patients discharging from hospital and five fatalities.
