As part of efforts to reduce crime in the area, an awareness talk was given at a monastery in Nanpayoke Village, Palaw Township in Taninthayi Region yesterday in conjunction with a handing over ceremony of percussion lock firearms.

At the talk, the head of the township police force Police Major Kyaw Myint urged local people to hand over their homemade weapons as crime rate was reported in the township when compared to previous time. Township Administrator of the General Administration Department U Kyaw Soe Htin, an official from the Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics and the headmistress of the village’s primary school shared knowledge about the risks of narcotic drugs, bills amending the 2018 Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Land Management Law and protection of sexual abuse of children.
