Employees from the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement donated relief supplies to internally displaced people in MraukU Township, Rakhine State on 16 June.

The contribution ceremony was held at a temporary rescue camp opened in the precinct of Shitthoung Pagoda in MraukU yesterday. Daw Nang Moe Ngwe and staff from the DDM presented 117 rice bags to the 393 displaced people from 117 households and gave words of encouragement to them.

The displaced people are currently taking refuge at the temporary relief camp after being forced to leave their homes due to armed conflicts between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army.—IPRD
