Department of Disaster Management in Mabein Township provided compensation for the families of four victims killed by a musth elephant in Mabein Township, Momeik District in northern Shan State yesterday.
A ceremony to present the cash assistance was held at the house of a village in-charge of new Pin Kyein Village.
At the event, Pyithu Hluttaw representative U Aung Myint Shein made a remark, and Township Management Committee Chairperson and Township Administrator U Kyaw Naing and deputy staff officer of Momeik Township Disaster Management Department U Ye Htut Naing explained the purpose of granting compensation.
The officials provided a total of K1.2 million, K300,000 per family, for the families of four victims killed by elephant.
On 13 November, a musth elephant killed the four victims – mahout Naing, Win, 37, and villagers Ba Nyan, 27, Aung Kyi Soe, 28, and Khant Min Thet, 6, – at the Pin Kyein Ywarhaung Village in Mabein Township, Momeik District, northern Shan State.
