A Myanmar-Japan judo talk show, entitled “From Myanmar-Japan Friendship to Myanmar Judo Era” was held at the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon yesterday.

With an aim of developing Myanmar judo, and reaching out to basic education schools and universities, Dr Mya Lay Sein, Deputy Minister for Health and Sports, attended the talk.

Director of All Japan Judo Boys National Team Mr Kosei Inoue, Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ichiro Maruyama, President of Myanmar Judo Federation U Tun Tun Oo, Movie Director U Aung Ko Latt and S.T.L.G Senior Managing Director also participated in the talk.

Speaking at the event, Dr Mya Lay Sein said the Myanmar sports world has been active since 2013. Japan has aided Myanmar’s sports community since 1963 as part of the Japan-Myanmar friendship. She also said she believed that Japan would aid in the future in the development of Myanmar Judo, as a sport that came together with Myanmar’s independence. Mr Kosei Inoue and the Japanese Ambassador also said Judo grass mats, Judo suits and construction of a modern Judo sport stadium are needed for the Myanmar Judo Federation.

President of Myanmar Judo Federation U Tun Tun Oo and Movie Director U Aung Ko Latt noted that promotion of Judo was necessary for the health of the people and to develop interest from youths in the sport. —Saw Thien Win (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
