Accompanied by Kachin State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col Nay Lin Tun, Kachin State Minister for Social Affairs U Nay Win, lawmakers and local authorities, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Aung met the displaced people and provided them with cash and kind in Mansi Township on 20 October.
First, the deputy minister who is also Chairman of the working committee on resettlement of internally displaced persons in Kachin State gave a speech. Next, the deputy minister and concerned officials furnished 457 displaced people with relief items such as cooking oil, legumes, salt and rice and Ks. 100,000 each worth about Ks. 150 million. They also presented Ks. 30,000 each to pregnant women, kids under six-month old and the elderly people.
They then proceeded to another IDP camp where they provided cash and kind which were valued at more than Ks. 5.2 million to 2,514 displaced people. They also later contributed relief supplies worth Ks. 1.7283 million to 823 displaced persons at an IDP camp.
