As part of efforts to promote socio-economic lives of rural people, development works will be implemented using village development funds (VDP) in 2019-2020 fiscal year in 16 villages in Yenangyaung township, Magway region, according to the township Rural Development Department. 

The department plans to carry out village development works using K 10 million of VDP fund per village and financial and labour assistance provided by local villagers.

In doing so, the villagers themselves need to draw up essential development plans for their village and the department will provide technical assistance.

U Zaw Lin Naing, head of the township Rural Development Department and officials have so far introduced development work plans to villagers and set up development work committees in eight villages. The department have carried out development works in 35 villages in 2017-2018 fiscal year and 14 villages in 2018-2019 fiscal year, totaling 45 villages.—Ko Soe Gyi
