Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win inspected development project at Nga Laik Sakhanthar elephant camp that is located in Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, yesterday morning.
The development works at the camp include a forest route, a ‘beach’ road and a floating pier.
The Union Minister instructed to maintain the forest road as the earth way, safety measures for the visitors of all ages at the pier, accommodation and healthcare measures for construction workers, conservation forest road by building small sediment reservoirs, cultivation of local wood plants and bamboos, conservation of ecosystem in the forest resort and food security for the elephants.
The Nga Laik Sakhanthar elephant camp is a forest resort near Mile Post (217/0) beside Yangon-Mandalay highway, and it is a popular recreation area.
The total length of new structures—forest road, ‘beach’ road and float pier— will be 4,817 ft, and the project has been completed 40 per cent.
The Union Minister and party later inspected a forest reserve at Mile Post (219/0) near Yangon-Mandalay highway, and gave instruction on conservation works.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
