With the aim of narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas, the Department of Development for Border Areas and National Races under the Ministry of Border Affairs is undertaking the development of rual areas. Now, solar panels and related materials were provided to villages in Rakhine State. In addition, rural roads are being constructed in the villages in the State.
In 2019-2020 FY, 100 pairs of solar panels were provided to Tharaphee village in Buthidaung Township, 50 pairs to Awata village in Rathedaung Township, 26 pairs to Wetkaukmaw village in Myebon Township. Therefore, over 650 local residents are eligible electricity through solar power system.
Furthermore, Panmyaung-Pyinyaung rural road in Minbya Township, Mruak-U District was constructed with K 148.127 million allocated by funds of the development of border areas in 2019-2020 FY and now, it has been completed by hundred percent. Upon completion, it will bring socioeconomic development and safe and convenient transportation to over 13000 local residents in 22 villages in Minbya Township.
