Domestic cattle receive vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease

A team led by Assistant Director Dr. Thant Zaw Htwe from Pwint phyu Township Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department injected cattle with vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease in Lel Hla Gone village in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway region yesterday morning.


 The vaccination is designed to promote livestock breeding sector and prevent cattle from contracting foot-and-mouth disease. In the vaccination tour, Dr. Thant Zaw Htwe explained farmers the cause of the disease, tips to be abided by in order to control the spread of the disease, ways to improve the development of livestock breeding sector. The team injected a total of 246 heads of cattle with vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease, making house-to-house visits in the village. 


In the fiscal year 2018-2019, the team made field trips to 36 villages in the township and injected a total of 3582 heads of cattle with vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease, according to Dr. Thant Zaw Htwe.
