With a collaborative effort between local people, the Township Rural Development Department and UNICEF, a water supply project is being implemented in Lakechan village, Seikphyu Township, Magway region, according to the department.

 

With the use of solar power, domiciliary water supply services will be available for the households in the village.

 

UNICEF has provided 56 80-watt solar panels, two sets of water pump, pipes and related items. Digging of two 200 feet-deep wells, construction of one 20 foot-high water tower with a capacity of 5000 gallons are being implemented with labor contributed by local people and technical assistance by the department.

 

Water pipes are now being placed in position in the village, according to U Ye Min Aung, head of the Township RDD.

 

Similar water supply projects are being carried out in ten villages in the township in 2018-2019 fiscal year, it is learnt.—Than Lwin ( Magway)
