The Department of Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the local government jointly organized a community-based drug rehabilitation course at a religious edifice in a monastery in Kinpan Village, Pinlebu Township in Sagaing Region.
The opening ceremony of the community-based drug rehabilitation course took place yesterday morning. On the occasion, speeches were delivered by Speaker of Sgaing Region parliament U Than, Regional Minister for Immigration and Human Resource Development U Moe Kyaw Thu, and Regional MP for No.2 constituency U Than Hlaing. Afterwards, Township Medical Superintendent Dr. Kyaw Naing elaborated on providing healthcare services to the drug addicts.
An official from the Department of Rehabilitation then clarified matters relating to rehabilitation tasks and a village administrator expressed words of gratitude. Next, the assistant township administrator handed over Ks. 500,000 donated by a private mining company from Kawlin Township to purchase uniforms for the trainees through the village administrator. The 40-day course is the third of its kind in Sagaing Region and is being attended by 50 trainees. Similar courses were conducted in Katha and Wuntho Townships.
After that, the regional parliament speaker and his entourage inspected construction of the Mu River crossing bridge measuring 1,000 ft. in length and 24 ft. in width. They also held a meeting with local people in Wanbeinn Village over the upgrade of inter-village roads and bridges, construction of rural healthcare centers and installation of a communication line.—Myo Lwin (Pinlebu)
