Draw result not important, but preparation is crucial: Myanmar U-22 head coach Popov

17 October

THE  head  coach  of  the  My-anmar  U-22  national  football  team,  Velizar  Popov,  said  that  the  team’s  draw  result  for  the  upcoming  men’s  football  event  of  the  30th  SEA  Games  is  not  very important, but good preparation is vital for the upcoming tourney.

The draw result for the eleven  ASEAN  countries  came  out  on 15 October in Pascal City, the Philippines.

After the drawing ceremony, Popov  said  that  if  team  Myanmar has prepared well, it will not need to worry about the performance or result while competing against opponents.

He also said that he is only focusing  on  the  best  strategic  play for getting every win, and he does not care about the draw result as drawing opposing teams is just a starting point for every team.

The  head  coach  said  he  would  make  team  Myanmar  ready for shaping a good result, and  he  will  also  pay  respect  to  all opponent teams.

Popov  also  said  that  the  opening  match  between  Myanmar  and  Malaysia  is  the  fo-cus  for  him  and  he  will  try  his  best  to  make  sure  the  team  reaches  the  next  stage  of  the  tourney.

Myanmar  has  been  placed  in Group A with host Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Timor Leste for the tourney.

Meanwhile,   defending   champion  Thailand  has  been  pooled  with  a  tough  Group  B,  comprising Indonesia, Viet Nam, Singapore,  Laos,  and  Brunei.
