An inauguration of a rural road which was built under the Village Development Plan was held in Wangmai Village in Mongtong, Eastern Shan State yesterday afternoon.
First, an official from the Department of Rural Development elaborated on construction of the road and a villager spoke words of thanks. Next, the new rural road was formally opened by officials from the DRD, a village administrator and a village elder by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
“This road is used by all residents in the village and connects with Mekin Village. It cannot be used in the rainy season in a convenient manner. Now it can easily be used and I would like to express thanks for construction of the concrete facility on behalf of residents,” a village elder said.
The new road is of concrete structure, measures 550 ft. in length, 12 ft. in width and 6 inch in thick and was built at a cost of K 12 million funded by the DRD and contributed by locals.
