An earthen pond is being dug by the Department of Rural Development in Kangyi Anaut Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region ensure availability of drinking water in summer.
The pond measuring 200 ft. in length, 200 ft. in width and 6 ft. in depth is being dredged by the DRD with Ks. 7 million of the Union Budget allocated in the fiscal year 2019-2020. The works on digging the pond began on 20 February and was completed by 30 percent. Officials from the DRD gave close instruction and supervision for timely completion, meeting the set standard ahead the schedule.
Once completed, both local people and cattle in the area will be able to use the drinking water in summer sufficiently.—Aung Win Nyein (Kanbalu)
