The Department of Rural Development will carry out the availability of clean water in some rural areas where residents may face water scarcity in the summer in Maubin Township, Ayeyawady Region.

The DRD will dig nine deep wells, an earthen pond and other water supply projects. Presently, the DRD is implementing water supply projects in five villages in the township. Maubin Township consists of 442 villages and 78 village-tracts.

The DRD dug 84 deep wells, 32 shallow wells, 10 earthen wells and 29 water supply projects in Maubin Township from 2012-2013 FY to 2017-2018 FY in an attempt to ensure availability of drinking water in the hot season.—Min Myint Mo (Ngazon)
