Mese 27 March
Officials from the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation looked into progress of rural developmental tasks in Mese, a border town in Kayah State yesterday.
The DRD dug up a tube well measuring 4 inch wide and 320 ft. depth in Kyauksu Village, Mese Township where residents face water scarcity in the summer yearly by spending Ks. 23 million allotted from the department’s budget in the fiscal year 2018-2019. In addition, a 5000-gallon capacity brick water tank and a water treatment factory are being undertaken by the DRD, said U Moe Aung, an official from the department.
“We have to fetch water from a creek which is about two miles from our village by hiring a trawlargy as we always suffer water shortage in the hot season. Local people are very happy with digging up a tube well by the DRD because they hope that they can get sufficient water from it,” said a local from Kyauksu Village.
The DRD officials inspected work progress of the tasks. Upon completion, the tube well, water tank and water treatment facility will be handed over to the village water supply committee.—Wut Yi (IPRD)
