Drugs worth over K720 mln, pistol seized in Mandalay and Bago regions

Over K720 million worth of stimulant tablets and a pistol were captured in Mandalay and Bago regions, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team consisting of members of the Anti-Drug Police Force searched a Suzuki Swift driven by Sai Saing Hlaing accompanied by Phyo Nyein Kyaw in Chanayethazan township in Mandalay Region at 7:30 pm on 5 October and captured 1,700 Ecstasy, 2.55 kilogrammes of ketamine and 30 grammes of happy water.

After the investigation, the combined police force seized 60 pills of Ecstasy, 225 grammes of happy water and 107.5 grammes of ketamine from a house rented by Phyo Nyein Kyaw in Mahaaungmyay township at 8 pm.

Similarly, police force arrested Lwin Htoo Aung who is a drug trafficker with Jetour X70, 7.405 kilogrammes of Ketamine, 800 grammes of happy water, two pills of Ecstasy, a pistol with ammunition and cash K1 million near Milepost 72 on Yangon-Mandalay expressway at 2 pm on 6 October.

In addition, police arrested Aikkwan (aka) Sai Kwan Kham at his house in Muse township at 3:30 pm on the same day.

The offenders admitted the drugs to transport from Shan State to Kayin State.

Legal action has been taken against the offenders, and an investigation is underway to identify others involved in the criminal chain. — MNA/MKKS
