TOURISM Hpa-an has issued an advisory outlining the “Dos and Don’ts” for travellers planning to visit Hpa-an, a destination with a high influx of tourists, to ensure the sustainable beauty of the area.

As Hpa-an has become one of the most popular destinations, it requests that visitors practise responsible tourism. This is essential for the sustainable preservation of Kayin State’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and the traditional lifestyles of the local people.

Visitors are advised to keep the environment clean, refrain from littering or damaging the environment, and avoid behaviours that harm natural resources, wildlife, and heritage sites.

Moreover, they are advised to stop using single-use plastic bags, support local, nature-based products, and dispose of waste properly. The advisory also emphasizes the importance of respecting local culture and customs. As many areas in Kayin State are designated as religious zones, visitors are prohibited from consuming alcohol. Additionally, visitors must not enter restricted areas.

According to local sources, interest in Hpa-an remains high among domestic travellers during the rainy season, as the region offers a variety of natural scenic beauty. — MT/ZN
