An opening ceremony of the Township Education Committee Chairman’s cup inter-school women’s football tournament was held in the Township football ground in Zalun Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region this morning.

At the event, chairman of the Township Administration Council U Tun Tun Lin delivered an opening speech and clarified the purposes of the tournament. “The tourney aims to raise the standard of Myanmar football, health and fitness of the whole region and to emerge of a new generation of athletes,” he added.

In the first game, the team representing Myoma Station beat the squad representing Daunkkyi Station with 4-0. Players from eight football teams in the Township will participate in the tournament which runs from October 11 to 18.—Wai Yan(Zalun IPRD)
