Yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw, Union Minister U Min Naung of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation met the chairman of the Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association (MRPPA) and its members to address various issues pertaining to the development of sustainable and high-value natural rubber production.

During the meeting, the MRPPA chair and members presented concerns related to rubber cultivation, export, the manufacturing process for high-value rubber products, and the future prospects of the rubber market.

In response to these presentations, the Union minister emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the production of finished products derived from rubber. He stressed the importance of establishing both short-term and long-term plans to safeguard the interests of rubber producers, including the implementation of strategies such as replacing old rubber trees with high-yielding seedlings, incorporating advanced technologies into rubber and leather production, and facilitating increased investment in finished goods made from rubber and leather.

To further enhance the export of premium-quality rubber, the government has eased restrictions on export revenue, particularly for goods categorized as high-value products. — MNA/TS
