At least eight persons were killed and around seven others injured after a fire broke out inside a hotel in Secunderabad city of India's southern state of Telangana, according to local sources on Tuesday.

Those injured in the fire on Monday night were admitted to a local hospital which said the conditions of a few were serious.

The cause of the fire remained unknown.

"The fire-fighting work is over and now the cooling down process is on. We recovered eight dead bodies from inside the building, and around seven injured persons. The whole building has been searched," said a local fire department official over phone.
