Yasagyo Township Department of Rural Department announced recently that eight villages between the Ayeyawady and Chindwin rivers in Yasagyo Township, Magway Region, would get access to solar power at the end of October.
Department of Rural Development is working towards supplying electricity to villages above 10 mile away from the power grid, according to National Electricity Project (NEP).
This 1.6 million project is now 70% completed and will distribute electricity to eight villages between the Ayeyawady and Chindwin rivers in Yasagyo Township, Magway Region: Mya taw, Thaphay Pin, Bee sat Kone, Kine, Myea Sone, Nyaun Mway and Sae thit Myin villages.
District Administrator of Department of Rural Development U Tint Wai and Township Administrator of Yasagyo Township Department of Rural Department, Daw Tin Tin Mar and official conducted field inspection on the project and gave suggestions.
Daw Tin Tin Mar said that this project was supported by World Bank, Germany, GIZ technical support and Ma Haw Tha Dar (NEP off grid).
About 60 per cent of the cost of the project is funded by the Department of Rural development and 20 per cent by the public and another 20 per cent by the company. The project is solar-diesel system and it can generate 288 KW of solar power and 160 KW by generator.
