The second-day session of the 12th plenary meeting of the 8th 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee was organ­ized in the Maha Pasana Cave on Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.

 

The meeting was attended by members of the State Sang­ha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Chairman Sayadaw Ab­hidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Ab­hidhaja Agga Maha Saddham­ma Jotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, directors-general of the De­partment of Religious Affairs and Department for the Pro­motion and Propagation of Sasana and other officials of departments concerned.

 

Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa presided over the meeting and Joint Secretary Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Panñadhaja acted as the master of ceremonies.

 

During the meeting, Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Visuddhacara Bhivamsa dis­cussed the Vinicchaya matters during the term of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Group (First Subcommittee) while Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Ottara reported on religious activities and Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Sad­dhamma Jotikadhaja Bhadd­anta Candavara on the educa­tion sector.

 

At the second session of the second-day session, Sasa­na Dhaja Dhammacariya Bhaddanta Canda present­ed Vinicchaya matters, Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Kovida religious affairs and Sasana Takkasila Maha Dhammacariya Bhadd­anta Nandapala the education sector.

 

Then, Joint Secretary Sayadaw Agga Maha Sad­dhamma Jotikadhaja Bhadd­anta Panñadhaja sought ap­provals for the report of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Group (Second Sub­committee) in the fourth term and concluded the meeting.

 

Disciples under the aus­pices of Kyaikkasan Wailuwun (Shwegyin) Monastery Sayad­aw Bhaddanta Manita (Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja) of­fered alms for the whole day to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee member Sayadaws who attended the ceremony yesterday. — MNA
