A ceremony to provide social pension to elderly people above 85 years old and personal protective equipment to departmental offices was held at the meeting hall of the township management committee in Chaung-U, Sagaing Region yesterday.

The township Administrator U Aung Baw, the township police chief Police Major Win Aung, staff officer of the township Immigration and Population Department U Soe Tun Aung, departmental officials and village Administrators attended the event.

First of all, the township Administrator U Aung Baw delivered an opening speech and clarified the purpose of the provision of social pension and personal protective equipment amid the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

Afterwards, officials handed over K 21.78 million and personal protective equipment to respective   village-tract Administrators. Under this cash aid program, 726 senior citizens above 85 years old from villages and wards in the township received K 30000 each.
