A discussion on producing electric bicycles in Myanmar is underway between owners of SMEs in Mandalay Industrial Zone and officials from Japan Myanmar Association (JMA), according to the SME in Mandalay Industrial Zone.
With Japan technology, parts of electric bicycle will be produced by SMEs in Mandalay Industrial Zone and the bicycles will be assembled at Kyaukse bicycle factory. Therefore, a discussion was held between Japan Myanmar Association, Senior Principal Researcher Hiroyuki MIY ANO from the Myanmar Economy and Management Institute (JMA-MEMI) and experts in producing electric bicycles at Mandalay Industrial Zone on 28 April.
“Now, the discussion is a first step and if the project is implemented, the parts of electric bicycle will be produced by SMEs from Mandalay Industrial Zone and the bicycles will be assembled in Kyaukse Bicycle Industry” said U Maung Maung Oo, secretary of Mandalay Industrial Zone Administrative Committee.
Arrangements are being made to produce electric bicycles during next two years and the produced bicycles will be exported to foreign countries. When the project is successful, it will bring development of SMEs, job opportunities and development of technical methods.
