A high school level essay competition was held to commemorate the birthday anniversary of General Aung San in conjunction with a chess event to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of Union Day at the Community Center of the Information and Public Relations Department in KhinU Township, Sagaing Region yesterday morning.

First, an official from the IPRD explained the aim of the event. A total of 20 high school students took part in the essay contest headlined, “Let’s preserve our union legacy” and the prize winners will be awarded on the birthday celebration of General Aung San which falls in 13 February.   

A chess event to mark the 73rd anniversary of the Union Day was also jointly organized by the IPRD and Sports and Physical Education Department in the afternoon. 20 middle school students participated in the chess contest and the award winners will be presented on the Union Day which falls on 12 February.—Soe Wai Aung (KhinU)
