Leaders of European nationalist parties gathered for a rally in Milan, Italy. They promised to pull power back from the European Union and stop refugees and migrants from coming in.
Italy's Interior Minister Matteo Salvini led the rally on Saturday for far-right movements from 12 European countries. The show of a united front comes ahead of the European Parliamentary elections scheduled for May 23-26.
Salvini, who is the head of the right-wing League party, called for strict border control across Europe to stop the influx of migrants. Marine Le Pen of France's far-right National Rally and Geert Wilders of the Dutch far-right Party for Freedom also criticized the EU's immigration policy.
The EU-skeptic leaders are hoping to get strong support in the coming election as frustration is growing with Brussel's policy.—NHK
