A ceremony to provide financial assistance to farmers affected by Cyclone Yagi, which struck in September 2024, was held at 4 p.m. on 11 June at the meeting hall of the Township General Administration Department in Kalaw Township, Southern Shan State. The event was organized by the National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC).
U Soe Thein, Chairman of the Kalaw Township Administration Body, delivered opening remarks highlighting the significance of the financial support for affected farmers.
Following the speech, financial assistance was distributed to local farmers who lost paddy fields and other crops due to the cyclone. Compensation was provided at a rate of K100,000 per acre, covering a total of 304 acres of damaged farmland. The aid was presented by the Township Administration Chairman and the staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department.
During the ceremony, a farmer expressed heartfelt thanks to the officials on behalf of all the beneficiaries.— Township (IPRD)
