A ceremony to present crop compensation for more than 1,070 acres of monsoon croplands which were damaged by the floodwater in 2018 to farmers took place at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region this morning.
At the ceremony, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative Dr. Mya Thaung delivered an opening speech. The speeches by the Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Myint Ngwe and Township Administrator U Kyaw Thu followed. Next, an official from the Department of Agriculture explained matters relating crop compensation. Afterwards, they presented over Ks. 100 million to the farmers in the township whose farmlands were destroyed by the flood.
Ks. 10,000 from the Union Government’s emergency fund was provided to farmers as crop compensation for per acre of affected farmlands.
