COMMUNITY FARMERS took a two-day horticulture course at the Mann Oil Field on Monday and Tuesday.

 

MPRL E&P, the partnership company of Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, and East-West Seed, the company giving assistance related to vegetable seeds with the help of Netherlands government, jointly conducted the course at Mann Oil Field in Minbu Township, Magway Region.

 

The aims of the course are to support local farmers to apply modern farming methods in growing tomato and chilli and to expand the markets.

 

During the training, the head trainer of the course of East-West Seed practically demonstrated methods of seed selection, preventing vegetables pests and diseases, preparing agricultural soil boundary lines, seedling maintenance, plastic mulch, watering and irrigation to improve local organic farming production.

 

The two-day course on the development of tomato and chilli farming with new methods was attended by 41 local farmers.

 

The trainers then selected four farmers those who are interested in the new farming methods and will provide them close guiding for sample cultivations that can be studied by other farmers. MPRL E&P is conducting many vocational classes for the local people at Mann Oil Field during 2019-2020 Fiscal Year.

 

During July, the company gave instant food production course for women, SME management course for alumni of vocational classes and vegeculture and horticulture course for local farmers, and there were a total of 76 trainees.
