A ceremony to present compensation for confiscated farmlands took place at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Thanlyan Township, Yangon Region on 7 September.
  

At the ceremony, the Pyithu Hluttaw Representative for Thanlyan Constituency U Lwin Ko Latt and Regional Lawmaker U Aung Naing Tun extended greetings and Assistant Director of the Department of Road Daw Htay Htay Oo explained matters relating to presenting land compensation to the farmers. Next, the MPs, Deputy Commissioner U Nay Win Aung, Township Administrator U Aung Ko Tun, Chairperson of the township NLD U Han Nyunt and concerned officials handed over compensation to farmers.
        

A total of 86.14 acres of farmland were confiscated when a route linking Thanlyan-Yangon No.2 Road and Thilawa Industrial Zone was built by the Ministry of Construction. Farmers were compensated Ks. 10 million for per acre farmland and the cash amount presented to farmers during the ceremony totaled Ks. 861.4 million.—Thet Khaing (Thanlyan)
