A total of 3500 acres of crops—2900 acres of summer paddy and 600 acres of other crops—have been earmarked to be cultivated in Aunglan Township, Magway Region.

The Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is supplying water to the farmlands through its four river water pumping projects.

Despite low rainfall and extreme hot weather in the area, the department is systematically distributing water to the farmland in order to meet its target, said U Myint Kyaw, Assistant Director of the IWUMD.—Thein Lwin (Aunglan)
