Kalaywa, May 14

Ferries running from Monywa town to the towns of Kani, Minkin, Kalaywa, Mawlaik, Phaung Pyin, Homalin and Khamti along Chindwin River have now resumed services after the ferry operators stopped operations on 31st March due to Coronavirus outbreak.

It has been five days the ferries resumed operations and two ferry boats run in a day in turns. We only sell tickets to passengers from Kalaywa town only if they can show us their health certificates. The ticket price is normal and ferries halved the number of passengers they can carry, said Ma Ngu War, person in charge of MGRD ferry gate.—Thet Han (Kalaywa)
