The Fifth Myanmar-EU Human Rights Dialogue was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw, on 14 June 2019. The Dialogue was co-chaired by U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation and Mr. Eamon Gilmore (former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland), the European Union’s Special Representative for Human Rights.
    

The dialogue was participated by Senior Officials from Ministries concerned from Myanmar and Mr. Kristian Schmidt, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Myanmar as part of EU delegation comprised of EU Senior Officials and diplomats from some EU member States based in Yangon. 

During the dialogue, both sides exchanged their views on a wide range of human rights issues relating to labour rights, rights of women, children, migrants and people with disabilities, situation in Rakhine, Kachin and Shan States, fundamental human rights, economic and social rights, freedom of expression, countering hate speech, human rights cooperation in the multilateral fora, implementation of international human rights conventions and basic rights of ethnic groups, as well as updates on GSP engagement between Myanmar and the EU Enhanced EBA monitoring mission.
