FILM artistes who are members of the My­anmar Motion Pictures Organization donated cash contributions to support a programme that provides school uniforms and stationery for their children, according to the organization’s Vice-Chair U Aye Kyu Lay.

 

To benefit from this support, members of MMPO having school-age children were invited to apply by submitting a copy of their member­ship card, a household registration copy, and official recommendation letters from relevant basic education schools within this June.

 

“This programme has been a long-standing tradition. This year too, we are continuing our usual tradition to support the parents in the film industry who have school-going children. In col­laboration with well-wishers, we are preparing to provide complete sets of school uniforms, exercise books, and stationey. So far, film artistes and film production companies have donated amounts ranging from K30,000 to K1 million. In addition to cash, some have also donated notebooks and stationery,” said UAye Kyu Lay.

 

Among those who donated K1 million are Academy Yan Aung, Saung Eindray Htun (Ma Ma Saung), Khaing Hnin Wai, Director Maung Maung Myint (late) and Daw Khin Ma Ma’s Pyay Nyein family, Taw Win Foundation, Power Lucky Film Production, Triple Six Film Production, Channel 8 Myanmar and Academy Wutt Hmone Shwe Yee.

 

Artistes such as Khaing Zin Win (Bay Bay), Saung Yoon San, Academy Khant Si Thu, Aung Thiri Film Production, and Hi Tune Production donated K500,000 each, while Baby Maung and Thanzin Maung contributed K300,000. Actor Nyi Htut Khaung also donated K300,000.

 

The MMPO aims to ensure that every child of member artistes who needs school uniforms and stationery will receive the necessary sup­port. Applications are open to all eligible mem­bers from across different sectors of the film industry. — ASH/KZL
