THE last day of the five-day Yegyaw funfair and bazaar in Pazundaung Township, a famous fair in Yangon, was also dynamic, spirited, and crowded with visitors.
The market was held for five days from 22 to 26 November to commemorate National Victory Day. Not only the people of Pazundaung and nearby Botahtaung townships but also people from other townships visited and enjoyed the fair.
“There are quite a lot of people. Most of them come to the event for various snacks. Most of the visitors are young people. There are some adults but not as many as younger ones. The crowds were so huge and congested that some couldn’t even move into them,” said a vendor at the Yegyaw bazaar.
Yegyaw festival was last held in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was resumed for the first time in 2024. All streets and pavement areas along the festival stalls were bursting with brightness and overcrowded from the very first day till the end of it on 26 November. – Htet Oo Maung/ZN
