A ceremony to provide financial assistance to farmers whose crops were damaged by natural disaster in 2018 was held at the meeting hall of the township General Adminstration Department in Setoddra township, Minbu district, Magway region this morning with an opening speech by the township administrator U Zaw Min Naing.

Then, the township administrator and officials from township agricultural department, township rural development department, township agriculture land management and statistics department and township agricultural bank handed over cash assistance to affected farmers. Financial assistance were provided to farmers at a rate of k 25000 per acre of summer paddy, k 5000 per acre of monsoon sesame and summer sesame, k 30000 per acre of peanut, k 5000 per acre of pigeon pea, totaling k 45.13 million.

In 2018, a total of 4841 acres of crop field in 40 village-tracts were damaged by natural disaster, affecting 2945 farmers in the township.—Sithu Lwin (IPRD)
